Bunky’s is one of my favorite neighborhood restaurants. The owner is very nice, and for some reason remembers my name. They serve a mix of Italian and Mediterranean food, as the sign says. My favorite dishes are “Spaghetti on the Table”: a must share with friends. It feeds at least two, and besides being good, is also fun and messy. I also love the “Seafood Combo”: another for two dish, but I often get it to go, to last for two days or three meals, which ever comes first. It has shrimp, salmon, and sea bass, all grilled and tasty, served with grilled veggies (which I love), and then hummus, rice, and baba ghanouj. Very yummy, and works well as lunch, dinner, lunch combo.
That said, my two ALL time favorite Bunky dishes are both salads. During the summer they do an heirloom tomato plate, that’s to die for. Multi-color and shaped tomatoes with varying levels of sweetness, topped with basil, mozzarella, a little balsamic vinegar and parsley. It’s only available during the mid-to-late summer, so get it while you can. But my year around favorite is the Mediterranean Salad with Chicken. It’s a two day or two meal dish, and the combo of lettuce, tomato, basil, and lemon or lime dressing, always leaves me wanting more.
It’s good food, prepared and served by good people. So give them a visit.
