24: TV’s Biggest Orgasm
24 is back with a vengence. It's four hour, two day season premiere rocked my world. I thought television had gone all bad with the loss of the Whedon universe (RIP Buffy, Angel, Firefly). A theory, somewhat support by my watching the painful to watch, L Word (hint: good actors, benefit from good writers). But...
Thank god I was wrong. So wrong. The season premiere of 24 gave me the biggest TVgasm, since Buffy kicked Angel in the nuts in Season Two's "Innocence." All my old favorites were back; only to be killed off within the first twenty minutes of the show. What?! WHAT!!! O' no, "Run Chloe, RUN!" Can I just say, Mary Lynn Rajskub, as Chloe, kicks. She's snarky, ill-tempered, geeky, slightly off-putting, totally cute in that snarky, geeky way, and looks amazing firing a weapon; what more could you want?
Anyway, I won't do a full review, because really you almost have to do it scene by scene to do it justice, and there are others who handle this so much better than I, so let me just point you to them. TVgasm has reviews up on both 2 hour episodes, He's Really That Good, reviews the high octane season intro; and So... Does This Mean No Curbside Check-In? reviews the 2 hour conclusion of the four hour season premiere. Both reviews are funny as all, and spot on in most of their characterization. There is an unfortunate blip, when the review assumes to know more about technology than the show. He seems to think that you can't access a computer unless your in the same subnet. He's massively wrong, but I forgive him, since he made me spit out my drink with his introduction of the Shifty Eyes of CTU montage. You'll laugh outloud. Besides, he also labeled Jack's sunglasses as "official Aviator Glasses of Badness". What a label, but so true. Did you doubt for a moment that Jack was back, after he flipped out his Aviator Glasses of Badness? I didn't, and he didn't disappoint.
