Book Memed!

I've been tagged by my friend, Laura Axelrod, over at Gasp!.

Book CoverWhat were blogs like, before the meme was appropriated? And speaking of such things, how did Richard Dawkin’s Meme get appropriated for the web in the first place?  All that aside, I’ve been tagged to do a book meme. Since, I often tag Laura, when I participate in other meme’s, I guess turn-about is fair play. So here are the terms:

  1. Find the nearest book
  2. Open to page 123
  3. Type lines 6-8 of said book
  4. Tag three others.

So without further ado…

The book is Doubt: A History. The request quote is

What’s more, these erroneous assumptions are held to be the cause of our suffering. Thus, adherents of these religions are entranced by the act of doubting, for the sake of shaking themselves free.

Now on with tagging others, I select: Joe, Tina, and Deb (whose website is still under development). You all are meme’d, so get to it.

And finally, a minor confession. Doubt was not the first book in proximity to me, it was the third. The first was a MySQL book, and I didn’t think the SELECT statement on page 123 would inspire anything but droopy eyes. The second was the wonderful children’s book, ”and Tango Makes Three…”, which did not have 123 pages. It maxed out at 32 pages. So Jennifer got called, but Doubt is a wonderful book. It’s been on my list of books to write up for awhile. Longer than and tango makes three, which I wrote up recently. But Tango is only 32 pages and Doubt is 500+, so… I will get to it though.
