The Daily Show: Republican National Convention
How ugly did the night get? Dick Cheney was the good cop. --Jon Stewart, the Daily Show
There’s a reason why Daily Show is considered one of the best news show on television. While the Big 5 stations—Fox, ABC, NBC (aka MSNBC), CBS, and CNN, seem hell-bent on playing propaganda from both parties, the Daily Show has taken the helm of asking tough questions, highlighting hypocrisy, and exploring humor, irony, and incredulousness of current events.
The Television Critics Association named Jon Stewart’s Daily Show the year’s best news and information program, during the 20th annual TCA Awards Ceremony. The sadness of it all is the Daily Show is fake or faux news. Think VH1’s Best Week Ever, but with a focus on world news, instead of entertainment news. I’m a fan of both shows. They make the news palatable, while often highlighting the details hidden or otherwise overlooked by mainstream media.
So I’m catching up on the Daily Show viewings via BitTorrent. I download the Daily Show on the Republican National Convention, and from just this tidbit alone, you can understand why, the Daily Show is becoming “THE News Show to Watch”.
If your like me, and didn’t watch the Republic National Convention. Because, really, “Who Needs that Much Hate in their lives?”
Besides the Dick Cheney commentary, my favorite quote is:
After years of being in charge of the house, senate, supreme court, and the executive branch, they [the Republicans] were not going to take it anymore
The Daily Show is the new IT location for political candidates. If you’ve never watched it, give it a go.
