Google Video: Condom Ads, Police Beatings, etc.
Alright, I’ll admit when Google came out with Google Video, I thought, what a nightmare. The site was badly designed, hard to navigate, and the video’s you could purchase came with varying DRM (digital rights management) standards. Meaning some videos you could buy and keep, others only lasted for 24-36hrs, and then disabled themselves (what a crock).
Anyway, while the DRM stuff is still there (Sorry, CSI I won’t be purchasing), Google has made an effort to clean up the site design a bit. And in doing so has allowed me to discover this gem of a video, Use a Condom. Obviously, the target is males, but even I have to say, the point was very effective. Give it a watch.
My second recommendation from Google Videola is Avoid Police Beatings. It’s a segment from the Chris Rock show, and is great fun. My favorite two scenes are: near the end, where he states, “...if your woman is mad at you, don’t drive with her.” It shows the woman screaming to the cops, “Yeah, kick his ass.” The second is tied between, the “get a white friend to drive with,” and the “jumping a toll both”. Chris rocks! And while, the video is choppy as hell, its still funny.
What else do I recommend? Ahh, you know me well. My last recommendation is iPod flea. A funny swipe at Apple’s ability to keep shrinking the size of the iPod, and of course pop culture, and the individual obsession with small things.
Well then, that all said, if you’re looking to buy videos, I wholeheartedly recommend the iTunes Music Store. In fact they just added a line up of shows from Comedy Central, including South Park, but not including the Daily Show (sad). They are the place to go for when you want television al a carte, or to keep up with shows that you don’t officially watch on TV. I’ve been loving, Commander In Chief, but I’ve only seen two episodes at its regularly scheduled time. And, OMG, I just notice that now have South of Nowhere available for download. Gotta go.
