Shannon Campbell: Leaves Me Nothing

I guess it's time that you and I lay down our arms and pretend we're not at war tonight cause I I'm so tired of trying not to love you like this like my life's depending on it and can you understand it's hard to find these words for you without a guitar in my hands and I know I've made mistakes but this is not the one I care to make again

What can I say. I went to Shannon Campbell’s website because I heard about this internet collaboration that produced a new version of a song called Dreaming of Violets”. I wanted to hear it. So I downloaded it, and some other mp3 files while I was there. I stuck them in iTunes, and while I was quite impressed with the new version of Dreaming of Violets, I was haunted by Leaves Me Nothing. By the end of the first verse, I had laid down my book, and walked over to my where my iPod was connected to speakers, to find out which song this was.

Well despite popular opinion, mine that is, I do like happy songs. But what can I say, the songs laced with heartbreak, regret, and dawning understand tend to grab me, hold me, and inspire me with renewed vision of life. We are all wired differently, but if you love a woman with a great voice, great harmony, and your pained served up in a song, then you’ll run over to Shannon’s site, and download Leaves Me Nothing. Then you can wonder why you’ve never heard of her before; or about how the current music entertainment juggernaut prevents access to amazing new and old artist; or think of ways that you can support independent artists so that they can continue to make amazingif often unrecognizedart.
