Madison, Wisconsin: Pre_Move Week

Everyone wants a piece of you, just be sure to reserve a piece for you.

Ahh… the frantic, frentic gallop towards Madison was in full speed last week. Client projects appeared like ants on a honey spill—“Can this be done before you leave?”, “Could you place this order, repair this machine, set-up this computer for a new user...”.

So my week pretty much went, Monday packing and client projects, Tuesday packing, packing and more packing, Wednesday shipping, packing and more shipping, Thursday client project and new staff introductions, Friday client projects, Saturday garage sale, cleaning, client projects, Sunday final cleaning and to the airport by 7am.

I can’t complain, most things got done. They prehaps weren’t the best effort of all time, but done nonetheless. I even made out well on my garage sale. Thanks to the tall, light red-head guy from Daily City, who purchased my Soloflex, weigh bag, weight bar, and other miscellaneous items. He woke me up and keep me awoke for an additional hour, but all garage sale-aholics should be as nice and spend as much (much praise).

So even though I spent til Saturday midnight at one of my clients sites, setting up computers for new staff that was sprung on me two days before my move, I did call a halt to the madness, STOP the MADNESS, by refusing to collude in the craziness that was getting a new server up and running and stable enough to replace our current file server in use by over 100 people. I just stood up and said it can’t be done, and my replacement will have to do it on a much more appropriate timeframe.

Otherwise, this story continues in the riveting “Madison, Wisconsin: Planes, Trains, and Automobiles”.
