Site Modifications This Weekend
This weekend, Friday 25 June to Sunday, 27 June 2004, I will be making modifications to the site. My plans are fairly simple, but have been a long time coming.
On my list for this weekend are:
- Modify Word Count SQL
This has been causing the front page to load super slow. I apologize a very sloppy query on my part. - Tweak Site CSS
I started out using a default template that came with ExpressEngine out of pure laziness. A new CSS stylesheet is on order, but not for this weekend.
- Installing Some PlugIns
Mostly for future features. I’ve been developing a web application, tentatively titled, Collections. Collections is a song genealogy applications. I have a little hobby of researching the history of songs that strike my fancy, say like I Put A Spell On You. I find who wrote it, when, any comments on why or influence, then trace what groups/artist have recorded it throughout the years. The goal is to have it be a separate LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) application, but with hooks into ExpressEngine, so I can manage songs, along with regular postings. - Site Topology
The Collections section and other sections of the site need to be fleshed out, so I can get better idea of how to make them easy to access, distinct, but a collective that makes a single web site. I just don’t want to manage three, four, or five web logs. I’m already massively behind on my work blogs, so a single, integrated site is all I’m hoping for.
This shouldn’t effect reading the site. I’ll test most things on my laptop, before uploading them.
