The World and Writing

Stop boring, my friend said. Okay, so I started a website, so I can bore you instead.

When I started this site, I figured it be a nice place to place my thoughts and opinions about different issues in the world at large. I didn’t expect my view to be unique. I just wanted to stop boring my friends with conversation on items that didn’t really interest them or interested them too much (for me).  I, also figured, it would be a nice centralized place to expose my entertainment, media, and technology interests, that differed from work related conversations.  Besides, I’ve rarely lived in the same state as most of my friends, so a nice and easy way that they could catch up on, if not my life, random thoughts of mine.

While, those goals for the site still remain, I’ve discovered I’m less and less inclined to write about the issues in the world at large. They either piss me off far too much, or make me feel depressed and slightly helpless over where things are going. I don’t like to feel helpless. And while, I do a bit to help provide vision, inspiration, and assistance to individuals and organizations across a spectrum of societal issues; there is a growing and overwhelming number of issues, organizations, and people that need it.

Sure, I occasionally get angry, but my personal goal has always been to forget being angry and do something— educate; listen; look a homeless person in the eye; drop a quarter so someone else can find it; smile; create organizations; motivate people; get your hands dirty; run your brain ragged; help. Life is the contradiction—hard and simple. I believe everyone’s gifted with something, and the gifted have an obligation to give. It’s simple, do something; give of yourself.

So, back to my current non-writing status on societal issues. I can’t say, when I’ll start writing more in this area. That doesn’t mean that there aren’t a hundreds of little and large things that capture my attention daily. In fact, it more due to the fact that there are a hundred plus little and large things that capture my interest daily, and between work and life, my writing on those types of issues has become fragmented.

Eventually, I expect more articles or post on society will start filtering through, but until then, don’t be put off by my focus on more pleasant things like music, movies, photos, etc.
