Tiger, Tiger! TIGER!! Mac OS X Tiger!

Tiger includes updates that are at least twice as significant as any single past update. Mac OS X is now getting to the point where significant improvements require a larger time investment. As far as the core OS is concerned, most of the low-hanging fruit has been harvested. Now it's time for Apple to get down to the real work of improving Mac OS X.

Did I mention I’m anxiously awaiting my copy of Mac OS X Tiger. I’ve been a glutton for Mac OS X Tiger news today. Slashdot, MacDailyNews, Google News, blogs, anywhere I could get a fix, I was tracking one down. To that regard, my heartfelt thanks to John Siracusa, of Ars Technica, who wrote the Mac OS X Tiger Review. WOW!  My brain almost imploded. So many lovely details. Now that’s an in-depth review, and highly recommended by me. It had me answering random client questions about Tiger like an Apple Expert. Who knew?

This is one of the days that I regret leaving San Francisco. For if I was in San Francisco, I’d be standing outside the Apple Store, sharing in the geek glory of getting a copy first, even though I know I’ll get another copy for free through work.  I want Spotlight. I want Automator. I want, I want, I want, Smart Folders.  Yeah! I’m that type of geeky girl—I mingle with other geeky aficionados, waiting for Apple to shine their spotlight on us, with a new operating system, we can ohhh and ahhh about for weeks on end.

I’ve already downloaded widgets for Dashboard; updates for BBEdit and Delicious Library; bookmarked Apple’s new Dashboard Widget and Automator Actions websites. I’m in lust for the Delicious Library Minishelf.

It’s Friday, and despite having tons of work for clients, friends, and volunteer projects to complete; I’ve managed to persuade myself that if my copy of Tiger does come Saturday, that I can install, play, and still get work done. It’s a lie, but sometimes lying to yourself is important. I’m lucky to not have a new lover at this point in time. Because, sadly, they’d still be sleeping in bed, while I seek out pleasures elsewhere. Of course, if they were smart enough, that could transform one type of excitement to another. But, alas.

If you live in Madison, I probably won’t be worth talking to next week. I’ll manage to relate practically any topic back to my new operating system. It’s a skill and a curse. (smiles).
