QT: What’s Not On Your Mind
"What if we don't know what to write about?" someone asked. She responded, "Write about what is on your mind. If you don't have anything on your mind, please use this as an opportunity to explain why. I'd like you to compare and contrast what's not on your mind with those things that are not on other people's minds."
Today’s the day, for little doodads. I was reading a SlashDot article, Writing Fiction Using SubEthaEdit, and there was a link to a collaborative writing effort. I believe its an actual piece written collaboratively, by a number of teachers. But what was outstanding, was one line, and I quote
“What if we don’t know what to write about?” someone asked. She responded, “Write about what is on your mind. If you don’t have anything on your mind, please use this as an opportunity to explain why. I’d like you to compare and contrast what’s not on your mind with those things that are not on other people’s minds.”
Can I just say, I’d like to see someone complete this assignment. In fact, I’d love to do this assignment with friends, or perhaps those kids from high school that use to stand around in corners, looking scary, but kind of cool. What was not on their mind? “Man, I hope mom uses Bounce today, these underwear are scratchy”, “I look cool, yeah. I LOOK COOL.”
Yes an assignment for the masses. You can read the full story here.
