Wow! Color Bubbles

Tim Kehoe has stained the whites of his eyes deep blue. He's also stained his face, his car, several bathtubs and a few dozen children. He's had to evacuate his family because he filled the house with noxious fumes. He's ruined every kitchen he's ever had. Kehoe, a 35-year-old toy inventor from St. Paul, Minnesota, has done all this in an effort to make real an idea he had more than 10 years ago, one he's been told repeatedly cannot be realized: a colored bubble. —Mike Haney, Popular Science

Ok. This is amazing, fantastic —throw your hands in the air, face to the sky, laugh-out-loud fantastic—colored bubbles.

I’m over at Slashdot, getting my tech geek on, but the science section posts this article, Mad Scientist Invents Colored Bubbles, and wow. Wow! Bubbles are clear. They float, can be small or large. They can be poked and they can be chased. They make light shimmer into rainbows, and can even make doing the dishes fun.

Now, even if your not a science geek, the article is a fascinating read. The stories mostly about belief, determination, and the inability to say, “that’s impossible”. What’s amazing, besides from the brilliant, transluscent colors of the bubbles, is the science of creating disappearing, non-staining, non-toxic, brilliant color. Obviously the idea is patentable, and the applications far exceed bubbles. But god, B-U-B-B-L-E-S.  Give the article a Mad Scientist Invents Colored Bubblesread.  Then you might even want to watch a video of children playing with the color bubbles (now labeled Zubbles).

Color bubbles! I so need to take some kids to a park so I can play, I’m mean they can play.
