Commentary
To welcome in my new method for posting playlists, I give you “Unwritten Time”. If you haven’t notice yet, I have a tendency to name playlists after the song or songs that inspired me to create them. This playlist, then is a dedication to the Natasha Bedingfield’s Unwritten and Gregory Douglass’ Time; both whom have kept me happy, calm, and dancing this last week.
My goal was to create a playlist that was enchanting but not melancholy—something that would make me smile. The only other limits I placed on it were: 1) No More than 25 songs; and 2) Must Contain at least 5 under-appreciated songs (for me that means songs that I haven’t listen to yet, or hadn’t listen to in two years. No comments on the challenges I create for myself when making playlist. I like to keep it interesting.
I’m very pleased with this playlist so far. It’s gone through two revisions, but I’ve been on the last revision for about a week or so; and keep wanting to go back to it; which means good stuff. Especially in shuffle mode. So the highlights include:

- The wonderfully light and upbeat Unwritten by Ms. Bedingfield. I like her brother, Daniel Bedingfield as well. Some label her a guilty pleasure, but the truth is, even though she’s undeniably pop, she’s very good.
- Time by Gregory Douglass. I was introduced to Gregory Douglass’ through a friend Joe Chellman, who is also a musician. It was a great recommendation (even through musical MEMEs). I’ve purchased three of Gregory’s albums and will probably round out my collection sometime in the future.
- Dare by Gorillaz. They are definitely my favorite fictional, animated band. Dare cranks up the dance element, it’s just slinky, kind of bouncy song. Almost pop, almost techno, with emo elements, it’s just a damn cool song. You can watch the video online at Dare Video at Virgin or Dare at AOL Music
- Appassionato an instrumental track from the acclaimed, Punches album of World Leader Pretend is just plain pretty.
- Stereophonics, Scissor Sisters, Tori Amos, Five for Fighting, Damien Rice, and others round out the list.
