The Show with Ze Frank: This is how I feel today. This is my baseline. |
Commentary/Review
First, I should admit, that the only non-YouTube web-based video log that I follow, semi-regularly is The Show with Ze Frank. He’s like an every-man’s Jon Stewart or Stephen Colbert. Sometimes he takes on the news and politics, but other times he just does life issues.
I like the December 19, 2006 episode,Baseline. I’ve only given it a 3 rating; but that doesn’t mean it isn’t good. It just means, for me, he’s done funnier videos or videos with more whit. But this is a nice solid video, that totally encapsulates how I’ve felt since last Thursday. I have a number of different jobs to do for various clients, my mom, Medicaid, my volunteer activities, my friends, and that doesn’t even include things like—doing the laundry, washing those dishes in the sink, buying more frozen mango for my breakfast drink, working out, etc., etc. I feel like apathetic me has shown up for the game, when I really need my version of I’m a go getter.
I’m getting emotionally slammed by a boat load of responsibilities, that I totally signed myself up for; but Ms. Responsible decided to take a breathier and left Ms. I Don’t Care/Why Me? to bring an “A” game. I don’t think so.
So if you’ve ever been like, “…this is how I feel today!” Then, this is the video to watch. I got to say, my baseline is crappy. I like the idea of re-calibrating where you are, and making that your normal, instead of subtracting or suppressing emotions and feelings. Of course, I currently have far better suppression skills than re-calibration skills. So, that will take some work.
I too, like this idea. This idea of multiple ‘me-s’ randomly showing up for the job of my life. I like how Ze handle the discussion. So go watch.
